Countdown to the Nexus 6
If you haven’t already seen it, check out the viral video that Google has recently released as a prelude to their upcoming smartphone:
After months of speculation and teasers like the aforementioned commercial, Google has confirmed that the company is set to release its new phablet this December. Entitled “Nexus 6” and somewhat affectionately, or perhaps sarcastically nicknamed “Shamu”; the phone is being produced by Motorola and is the company’s largest smartphone to date. At 5.9”, Motorola’s latest creation will outsize even Samsung’s Galaxy Note 4 and the iPhone 6 Plus.
In addition to its rumored colossal size, the phone will also feature three distinct color variations: white, black or gold and for the most part, retain many of the design features of the Moto X, including the latter’s signature front speakers.
Beyond its good looks, the new Nexus is also expected to be equipped with a bevy of upgrades and new tricks:
What’s New in Nexus 6?
3GB of RAM
Quad-core 2.7GHz processor
Qualcomm Snapdragon 805
Quad HD Display (496 ppi)
Motorola Turbo Charger
13 Megapixel rear camera
While announcing the Nexus 6, Google, as they have notably done in the past, also announced the commencement of their next operating system. It’s called Android 5.0 Lollipop, and we can expect the same OS to be featured in the upcoming Nexus 7 and 10.
Though no official price has yet been given, Google Nexus phones have historically been significantly lower priced than its competitors. “Shamu’s” predecessor, the Nexus 5 launched at only $380.00- several hundred less than many of its smartphone competitors. The same lower pricing trend is expected to continue with the new Nexus.
If you’re a fan, the Nexus 6 should be available for preorder in the UK mid- November, with retail sales slated to begin in early December!
